Since 1979 Laurie has developed his career based on a foundation of hands on practical work, starting off in commercial horticulture and gradually moving into gardening, landscape construction and garden design. He is a full member of the Professional Garden Consultants Association, Chartered Institute of Horticulture, Professional Gardeners Guild and the Horticultural Judges Guild. Projects that he has worked on include Gold winning gardens at the RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows.
He currently acts as Horticultural Advisor to Private Gardens, Local Authorities, Property Developers and Schools, as well as being a freelance Private Estate manager.
He is a holder of a teaching diploma with which he lectures and gives hands on training in General Horticulture, Garden Construction and Garden Design. Additionally, Laurie has written and had published horticultural papers and journalistic articles.
In addition to Horticulture, Laurie studied Ecology and Conservation at the University of London, and Arboriculture with the Royal Forestry Society, he is fully trained in Health, Safety and Risk assessment.
Working in London and the South East of England, Laurie has developed a consultancy business specialising in dealing with issues that arise from the process of achieving and maintaining a perfect garden. This could be general horticultural advice or a full garden design.
